The Enduring Magic of Mosaics

This majestic lion is 5,000 years old! He and many other lion mosaics graced the outside walls in ancient Babylonia as tribute to the goddess Ishtar.  

The fawn is from Roman times, 2000 years ago.

I have always been amazed at how little pieces of rock, tile, or glass can be assembled into wall art and floor art and capture the emotions and imagination of those who look at them.
